DTF Printer Maintenance Basics
Most DTF print problems trace back to maintenance. A few minutes a day keeps printheads healthy and prints consistent. Always follow your printer maker’s manual first.
Routine
- Daily: stir and circulate white ink. Stir and circulate white ink as your printer requires, because white pigment settles.
- Daily: head cleaning and nozzle check. Run a head cleaning (1 to 2), then print a nozzle check before production.
- Daily: wipe and inspect. Wipe ink buildup from the capping station and wiper with lint-free swabs and cleaning solution.
- Daily: cap and protect the head. Make sure the head is capped at the end of the day. Use Nozzle Guard overnight and during pauses to keep nozzles moist, and follow your printer maker’s storage guidance for longer shutdowns.
- Monthly: lubricate and deep check. Lubricate rails, ensure all inks are properly flowing with a good nozzle check, and use Nozzle Guard Pro overnight to soften any stubborn hard ink.
- As needed: replace wear parts. Replace capping units, wiper blades, dampers and ink filters when they wear or clog.
